Ford Escort 1.8 Si petrol Zetec - EGR bypass - unthrottled
Why? it is inoperative at full throttle so there's no performance gain. Nor is there any fuel economy benefit at part load. There's no soot issue with a standard petrol engine either. EGR delete is a diesel trick that doesn't do anything for petrols.

Ah, I see. There shouldn't be any real side effects. I don't think the engine can tell if it is operating-unlike a diesel-which can! It'll only be an engine management light any way-but I think EMLs are now MOT failures.
