can i completely remove the egr from this car or will it cause problems

Why? it is inoperative at full throttle so there's no performance gain. Nor is there any fuel economy benefit at part load. There's no soot issue with a standard petrol engine either. EGR delete is a diesel trick that doesn't do anything for petrols.

thanks for that bud its just in the way it goes right over the rocker cover which is in need off a new gasket so just thought if i could do away with it at the same time it would save me some time

Ah, I see. There shouldn't be any real side effects. I don't think the engine can tell if it is operating-unlike a diesel-which can! It'll only be an engine management light any way-but I think EMLs are now MOT failures.

yeah they EMLs are a failure bud but these escorts dont have them i had a few of them but this is the first 1 ive had with this type of EGR set up
