Ford mondeo mk lll lx petrol (51 plate) - engine management light on - rubberball

my car has just done 100,000 mls and engine management light came on.the car itself runs fine, i just wondered if it was because it wanted a service. any ideas

No, it's not because it needs a service.

Mine's the same, came on this cold weather, along with slow starting. Reading the codes says an EGR fault. Car runs normally, and MOT isn't for another 11 months, so I'm ignoring it.

Had the same light on mine at 76,000 miles. Car was/is running fine, sailed through its MOT. Mechanic said was an "Oxygen sensor" causing the light to come on, needed a good clean! reckons it was caused by using Tesco supermarket fuel!???

thanks for your reply,funny thing is i filled up at tesco before the light came on, car still running ok though.

sounds pretty much like mine, how do you go about getting codes.
