Peugeot 405 Diesel - Leak off pipes - PNoddy

Hi,

I'm having a bit of a problem starting my 405 diesel after replacing the leak off pipes and fuel filter.

I've bled the system with the hand primer but it refuses to start. If I flood it when starting it'll splutter to life but I need to keep the throttle pressed fully and it won't rev past 3000 rpm. When I take my foot off the peddle it dies straight away. I was wondering if its possible that I've connected the leak off pipes backways? Or can they even be connected backways?!

Any help would be greatly appreciated guys.

Sounds as though you have introduced an air leak somewhere, probably on the filter. Take it off again, make sure the seals are clean and refit it. If its the metal canister type rotate it a little at a time as you tighten the bolt to make sure it seals properly. If it has a Bosch pump you can get air into the system via the leak off pipes but not enough to stop it running, providing you have connected the pipes to the correct places you shouldn't have a problem.
