Skoda Superb & Eos - Clutch position sensor

Skoda Superb & Eos - Clutch position sensor - ggh1

My petrol Superb 2 and diesel Eos both have fully wired clutch position senors. The Eos will not let you energize it's starter until the clutch pedal is fully depressed. With the Superb you do not have to depess the clutch pedal to start the engine, therefore does anybody know what is the purpose of the clutch position sensor in the Skoda?

Skoda Superb & Eos - Clutch position sensor - Railroad.

That's not its only purpose nor its main one. It's used to tell the ECU when the clutch pedal is depressed so it can make alterations to the ignition/injection timing, which allows for smoother gear changes.
