Renault Clio - starting problem - porschetec

my 2002 petrol engined clio problem is it will not turn over, i swich on the ignition and it seems as if the battery is dead, the dash lights fade a bit and the interior light illuminates slowly, as soon as i swich the headlights on i lose the dash lights and the interior light, but my battery isnt dead i even connected another battery to it, it was all fine yesterday and has never happened before but now suddenly it has this problem, this must have happened to someone out there? help!

Sure does seem if the battery is in trouble or the connections to it are poor contact.Connecting another battery to these to jump start can be a little tricky as it is a problem to get a good connection on the positive (red) terminal.hth

Hi, my daughter had a similar problem.......i almost gave up ...then i discovered that the alternator was seized thus stopping the engine turning........maybe this is what is wrong......it's worth a look. good luck
