Focus mk1 (2000) - Gearbox freezing In cold weather. - Tommk4

The last few morning when I've got in the car the gearstick has been totally stuck, somtimes it will move around in neutral but will not go into any gears untill the engine has been running for a few mins, then, suddenly it will work as normal.

It was -14 *C this morning and it wasnt as bad as it was yesterday at -2 *C which is odd.

Does this mean there is water in the gearbox and if so how serious is this?

The gearbox is absoluley fine in normal conditions and selects gears perfectly.

I doubt if you have water in the gearbox more than likely the selector arms are stiffening up in the cold probably need a good clean and regrease.
