Ford Focus 1.8 tddi 52 plate (03) - Can't select reverse - redxs11

Hi my car been running fine but sudenly 4th,5th gear are hard to select and cant get reverse at all with the engine runing or not ??

1st, 2nd & 3rd select ok but feel like they have moved closer to the drivers seat can any one help

Have you run over anything in the road recently or been off-road,bottomed out?

Sounds like the linkages have either taken a knock,loosened or fractured.

Not the best weather to put on ramps and crawl underneath!

Haven`t done this model but some can be a nightmare....an air-cooled VW Transporter I owned springs to mind.

Hi all done the problem was a plastic locking nut on one of the cables had undone and released the cable ?? "how dose a locking nut undo what's the point of that" could have been worst a new cable is £100 plus or new box don't want to think about that one.

The battery tray,air filter box, aux fuse box all had to be taken out just to get to it night mare.

Hope this helps anyone if this happen to them
