TVR Chim - Jacking under the hub OK - euro driver

I need to do some work on the brakes.

Rather than jack up the whole car I was thinking of putting the trolley jack under the wheel hub and jacking that just to get the wheel of the ground.

Is this OK to do or could this cause problems (stress on wheel bearing etc)?

I think you would be better using a proper jacking point and then putting an axle stand under to support the weight.

Working under a car supported only on a jack is asking for trouble.

Bad idea. I doubt you would be able to get a decent jack under the hub assembly anyway as the tyre is in the way. Although the bottom wishbone looks tough it was never intended to to take the load in that plane. Regards Peter
