I booked the ferry over to Calais for £65 and we always like to keep some flexiblity in these trips - so no hotel bookings in advance involving credit cards.

Any thoughts? Diesel prices and so on?

I usually fill up in Calais but the tank won`t hold enough to do the 600mls or so round trip without returning with half a pint in the tank. Is Belgium cheaper? I could fill up on passing through on the return, or top off on the way out.

It`s five years or so since we last went in that direction.

Still not sure whether to run down to Bayeux instead....
