Odometer misread after battery re-charge. - sukhpal_78
My car battery went flat and all the sudden the mileage meter shows 651,351 miles which suppose to be showing 106,000 miles( i have a record proving this mileage 3 month back). Its an A6 Audi 1.8T car. The battery worked fine after been recharged but now the mileage have increased. Any advice would be great.

Adding to the above information, the date and time also reset to 1999 Jan 1.

Have you owned the car from new? It occurs to me that the recharged battery might have caused the odometer to revert to an old total ie: before your ownership.

That said, 650k might be a record for an A6!

Any advice would be great.


Try disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it again. Like all things electronic, it might just need a reboot.

I will try disconnecting the battery.

I am the third owner but the MOT records in the past shows the mileage. It was always less than 100k miles when i got it last year.

Last service with audi shows 106k, i should apply for world record for making 550k miles in 3 months. :)

I agree with DD but would consider leaving battery disconnected overnight!. Make sure keys are well away from the car before process.
