Occasionally when using the central locking the passenger door fails to unlock and the button stays down. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks.

I had a Golf IV and the doors lock failed to lock properly. It would deadlock. There was a problem on these cars back then and a new lock sorted it.
Sounds like you might need a replacement lock. The only surprise is mine was not right from day one in August 1999. But stolen Feb 2000. But it needed two new lock mechanisms.
