Volvo V70/XC70 (2000 - 2007) - 06 2.4 Engine cutting out

06 2.4 Engine cutting out - stivvy
Car parked on sloping drive facing downhill when engine just cut out. Recovery man simply wheeled car onto level bled the fuel line and off we went. He claims that he had a number of such incidents and it was to do with the low fuel level ( there was 22litres in the tank)and the car on an incline which caused the engine to gulp air. Volvo dealer denies any knowledge of such an incident.

i work for volvo fleet and we have been told sometime ago never let the range go under 35 miles as letting it get so low WILL cause an airlock in the fuel line. also you may find that the range once at 30 or below will with no notice go to --- range (zero).

Thanks for that. Altho we had over 100+ mls (20ltrs) in the tank, the fact the car was on a slope would have reduced the amount available. As we were in Wales and touring I hate to think what would have happened had we been stuck up a hillside in a traffic jam!
