clutch on my accord has been slipping very slightly for about 3000 miles. could this be needing bled or is it definitely on way out.?

Steve,
A clutch that requires a bleed, will have a soft pedal with too much free travell. It wil also grate when selecting reverse, and take up the drive very close to the floor.
A slipping clutch will give a symptom of driving on ice. That is to say, the engine speed increases, but no power. If this is what you have, then you need to get it replaced before it fails completly. Get some prices, as it's an expensive job.

I agree its probably needs a new clutch but why is it going to be over expensive, its a straight forward job nothing special no dual mass flywheel just a normal clutch.
|
Andy,
The book time is just under 6 Hrs. Even at £50.00 P/h that makes it £300 + vat in labour alone.
|
So that means my garage is going to charge me around £300 including parts peanuts,a mondeo or vectra with a dual mass flywheel is what I would call expensive.
|
Andy,
I'd call 6hrs labour expensive. But then I'm a tight old g*t!
As for duall mass flywheels......... best not to get me started on that topic!
