Following on from the "has this forum changed you thread", what was your first ever thread/posting on here? And is the subject still topical?

After doing a search it would appear this is mine from March 03

www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?v=e&t=11...6

questioning whether the new breed of common rail diesels were any better than the old-style as I wasn't very convinced with my Scenic's replacement!

Still topical in my eyes! Give me an old-fashioned turbo diesel any time!

Congratulating MG-Rover on ignoring ASA's advice. Fat lot of good it did them.

Motor now gone to the great motorway in the sky.
Subject definitely not topical :-)

Rough running when cold rover 214 and using oil. Surprisingly still have it 4 years later, considerably less mileage than planned but another 50K and its no different!!

The good and bad features of Rain-X.
Still valid, unless the formulation has changed. The bad point was so bad I dare not try again.

Was the change of name something to do with the "Great All Day Bender" disaster ?

Edit:-

It wasn't ! This was the post that entered BR history in 2001 :-

"Guy said .....I feel sick........

Been on one of those anal day benders again Guy?

And while you were I expect David L has been cutting the grass for all the local pensioners followed by tea and sandwiches with the vicar."

23 September 2005. Adam was my first reply. Funny thing was I was just considering a change of car to better suit our needs. Then it really was necessary as the Mondeo was written off three days after my first post.

Mmmmm.
Maybe yet another thread should be started, concerning 'the greatest BB stories ever'.
Possible 'classics' ...

Chris the Lada owner
Mark (Brazil)'s love of Freelanders
The infamous debadged citroen
The car mats thread (circa rugby world cup 2003 - ran to 150+ postings!)
The power washer/slippers thread

and of course, the anall day bender...

My first thread was
www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=25918 -
on the sales success of the Vauxhall Corsa, which in Sept 2004, knocked the Focus into 2nd place. That was the old Corsa. The new one is reckoned to be much improved, and regularly outsells the Focus. Indeed in the latest (Sept 2008) figures, it is easily top, and the Focus comes fourth - an indication that the current economic downturn is causing automotive downsizing.

My first post was on my dislike of electric windows -

and curiously enough, I'm still harping on about them!

I've no idea. But a quick look at some of my early posts (2003/04)reminds me how much more expensive cheap cars are than they were then. HJ refers to an auction bargain of a Maestro for a tenner. That'd be £100 these days.

Although I was lurking around a little before then.

We never did get a C5 but our C4 doesn't have aircon so we still don't know if the dual zone thing works. Actually, it was fine in the S-type we took around France in the summer so it works on fords Jaguars at least.

My favourite thread was the afternoon of the edit button, very good.

And I've said it before and I'll say it again, I do miss Ian Cook's virtual pub.
