2.2td - loads of grey smoke on starting - dollybet1
hi all my renault laguna 2.2td has done 140k and just had full service but still kicks out excessive grey smoke on starting and then random huge plumes of smoke when been running for a couple of hours it starts first time every time and drives fine please help thanks

It would be useful to know the exact model and age of the car. Presumably a dTi and not the dCi. Need to know.

Probably turbo on the way out - but a guess.

first is it smoke or steam, smoke could be valve seats, if steam, could be leaking head gasket

i think its over fuelling. it should be quite cheap. basically its like the choke on a petrol but too much diesel is being injected to start it when the engine is cold

one glow plug will only go in half way and 2 wont undo would it be easier if the engine was warm
