hi, I have a 1993 Rover 827 Coupe fitted with the Honda Engine
On the dashboard the PGM-Fi light goes out within a couple of seconds when you turn the ignition on but when you start the engine the light comes on and stays on.
After hunting high and low I managed to find the PGM-Fi control unit (under the drives seat) and it is flashing a code of four flashes.
Anyone know what this means??
My car also Has a slight blow between the front pipe and the cat...has this got anything to do with it??

If they are groups of four, equal length, flashes, constantly repeated; then that is for the RPM sensor circuit.
|
thats the one...
any way of fixing it??
|
Yes; break into the RPM sensor wires at the ECU plug; check the resistance and, if correct, scope the signal for anomalies.
I can't even remember where the sensor was on these Hondas. Could be in the distributor...?

Have you tried Googling for an 827 website? I'm sure there was one with a tech section that included fault codes and much more when I had a Legend with the same engine some years ago.

Honda workshop manuals are available online here:
www.honda.co.uk/car/owner/workshop.html
Not sure what the Honda equivalent is, but I'm sure it's there somewhere...

Rover800.co.uk looks useful as well.
