1998 A6 1.8T Groaning - Stu
My A6 has began an annoying habit of squeaking and groaning, coming from the front suspension. There doesn't seem to be any noticable play in the steering or ride. The squeaking is related to up and down movement of the vehicle, the groaning from forward motion.
Dane Audi at chester diagnosed a suspension arm without looking or listening to the vehicle! Their cure in excess of £300. I wouldn't mind but telepathic fault diagnosis does not instil confidence.
Anyone had anything similar?
Whilst I'm on. What a fab motor. Up to 106k miles now with very few problems and a drive and ride like new.

Given that this is the same suspension set up as the Passat
(allegedly) I seem to remember reading on this page that VW Germany had issued a vehicle recall on front suspension?
I had the same problem on my 'R' plate Passat, and was pleased I'd got VW extended warranty..... At least the service manager came out to the car and twiddled the steering wheel before making the diagnosis.
