quick question before i start bidding on ebay, would a manual starter motor, off a mk2 golf 1600 (g reg), fit my mk2 golf 1600 automatic? mines an h reg (1991).

I think you'll find they're different. Why not have your's rebuilt? It would'nt cost that much more than a second hand unit with postage

its just that mines noisey when i start the car each time, i thought that replacing it would be kinder and easier, i dont know why its making a loud noise when it starts but i have heard of other mk2 golfs auto having the same problem.

Yeh I've heard them before, I think there's a bush that wears out, someone will confirm this I'm sure
