Citroen Xantia - ABS fault - spriggy
My ABS light is permanently on. My husband has replaced the rear pads which I needed and discovered the sensor has snapped on the rear driver's side. He is going to replace it. I have been told previously though that the only way to get the light to turn off is by going to a Citroen garage as a special tool is required. Is this right? if not will the light just turn off when the sensor is replaced or is there anywhere I can get a tool to turn this off myself? I need this for the MOT next week & don't want to pay over the odds if possible just for turning a light off.
thanks, Sam

I don't know about the ins and outs but I imagine there will be a local independent Citroën, Peugeot or French car specialist who will also have the diagnostic tool and be able to do the work more quickly, cheaply and simply than the franchise dealer.

I have replaced rear sensors on a BX for the same reason as you, broken wires. The fault light was on, it stayed off after I replaced the sensors.

You have nothing to lose by replacing the sensor and seeing what happens, really.

If the light stays on, post back saying whereabouts you are in the country and someone on here will probably know a local Cit independant.

AFAIK the light will go out once the fault is rectified. Do not assume that the rear sensor is the only fault though....

Is it illogical? It must be Citroen....
