i need to do the brake fluid change on our vw's , i was just wondering if any of the premium brands are worth the extra cost or should i just grab whatver is cheapest?

no , just change every two years- but use the correct spec. I always have

I would agree with the above - correct spec. is vital. However, as this is a safety critical issue and because very expensive peripheral parts (eg. ABS unit) are involved, I would stick with an established brand. I use Delphi, largely because I find their pads to be very satisfactory and I buy the fluid at the same time.

a1 motorstore own brand =£5 a ltr , castrol brand was £9.99 a ltr

I can't imagine the Castrol is twice as good and hence not worth twice as much money.

I use Commer from Wilkinsons, about £4.80 - £5 a litre. Good stuff, good spec, never had a problem. A litre should allow enough for you to have a good flush through in most cars.
