Vauxhall Vectra Auto Transmission - Vectra Man
I have a year 2000 Vectra automatic which I have started having a problem with. When I slow down and stop the car used to go straight into neutral but it has recently stopped doing this and remains in gear so I now have to keep my foot firmly on the brake to stop it from creeping forward. Does anyone know what the problem could be?

As the gearbox drops itself into neutral (although the gear lever is still in D) when the brake lights have been on for more than a coule of seconds, the first place I would look is to see if the brake lights are actually working. Not sure if the brake light switch is a 2 pole switch (where one set of contacts operate the brake lights, and the other set of contacts operate the "neutral") but if it is, then the brake light switch *could* still be faulty if the brake lights are still working.

Yes brake lights are working but will get auto electrician friend of mine to check brake light switch to see if faulty. thanks for that.
