do you have to pay to get the points taken off your driving licence,my bro was done for a dd 11 years ago and he reckons he can get them removed now?
|
Best to check with DVLA.
Why did your brother wait so long?
Normal points stay in license for 3 years, and only for dangerous driving/drink driving, it is 10 years.
|
Because as was stated a DD so they last ten years on your licence.

Normal points stay in license for 3 years, . IIRC 4 years. Points valid for 3 years for totting up.
www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/DriverLicensing/Endo...0
"Endorsements must remain on a licence for four years from the date of offence in all other cases."
"Endorsements must remain on a licence for 11 years from date of conviction if the offence is:
drinking/drugs and driving (shown on the licence as DR10, DR20, DR30 and DR80"

...and you do have to pay to have them removed. (Although apparently they disappear if you change your address after the points have expired).
You also have to pay to get your licence back if it's been revoked or you get banned.
|
Expired points also disappear if you have to renew your licence every 3 years on medical grounds.
Got 3 points for SP50 back in 2000, when my licence came back from the 2005 renewal the points had vanished for free.

Excess alcohol must stay on for 10 years because of the additional ban you get for a second like offence within that period.
