A dual garriageway on tha A30 near Basingstoke suddenly sprouted an island completely blocking the outside lane. After a short distance the dual carriageway is restored and life gets back to normal. Two lanes of drivers have to get into one lane then after a few yards are allowed back into 2 lanes. Am I missing something? It causes no end of rage when outside lane drivers try to cut back before the island and the inside lane users won't let them in.
Any examples of dafter road schemes?

Thier is a similare thing on the A31 just before Alton, the obstical is there to protect vehicles turning right across the dual carriageway. so efectively the road is single carriagway at the turn right section. If you can see what I mean.

A section of the A41 between Bicester & Waddeston has a section of duel carriageway which is only about 100m long, due to a very slight slope.
A crawler lane? more like overtake the HGV as quick as you can before the road switches back to single carriageway lane!!!!

Watch out for a congestion charging proposal being floated in the area anytime soon.
