Shadow II crankshaft - Martin Devon
A colleague requires a new (or reconditioned), Crankshaft for a 1980 Shadow II. Has been quoted megabucks, but will not part with ££easily. Far too canny. Any assistance out there boys?

Parts do cost mega bucks, thats part of the deal when you buy one. These cars were made to last so parts are high quality, thus expensive.

Your colleague either has one with mega miles on it or has bought a dud car because these cars should run indefinatly with correct servicing.

Sorry, but if he was canny, he would have bought a better car and wouldnt need a camshaft at all.

Not meaning to be shirty but running a Roller on pennies is unrealistic.

If he doesnt like paying out so much, maybe he should drop a Rover V8 in it instead.

Perhaps a Fiesta would have suited his character better? LOL!

Anyway, try these people in Market Bosworth, Leicestershire: www.flyingspares.com/

If he needs a new/recon crank then I dare say he'll need quite a few other parts too...

>He doesn't need a camshaft. A CRANKSHAFT if you read. He has loads of money and is obviously cannier than you. That's how he has hung on to it. I do not know WHY he requires said CRANKSHAFT, but he does. He is very successful and has many perfectly pristine classics one of which is an immaculate Facel Vega. Thanks for your assistance in this matter.

He has owned the car for years and has had a problem with a re-ground job I have discovered. If you suggested he has a Fiesta instead he may park something like an immaculate MKII Jaguar where the sun don?t shine!!!

Cheers anyway?????.VBR.............MD

I don't think there's any way round megabucks on this one, Even a secondhand crank
is likely to be dear and a bit of a risk. Also RR later V8's were 6750cc but earlier ones were 6230cc, cranks might be different so he'd need to check items carefully.

6.750cc

Thanks MD

If they're that hard to find then I'd get the existing one sprayed & rebuilt & reground, shouldn't be a fortune.

I am obviously the only person on this forum who doesn't know; but what is a Shadow (Mk I or Mk II)

I take it, it's not a Vincent Black Shadow - is it?
