Honda Jazz not used for 12 months - Pete Mansell
A friend has a 2 year old Jazz that he has not been able to use for 12 months, due to medical reasons.During this time it has been started occasionally and moved a few yards, so at least the tyres should still be round.

Does anyone have any idea what may have deteriorated over this time and what checks he should make.

Many thanks, Pete

changing the oil and filter would be a good idea lots of condesation builds up when you don't use them, take it for a steady drive and gently apply the brakes the front discs maybe slightly corroded but they will clean up ok when you start to use it, thats about it really after all the car is only 2 yrs old, most new cars stand for about 12mths anyway.

Very few manufacturers have fields full of cars like they did a few years ago. Most have moved over to a build to order system and the cars you see at portbury and the like are only short term transit centres.

I personally would look to change the discs and pads as the level of corrosion on them may well be too far gone. Also with little use things like rubber brake hoses may have perished too so worthwhile getting it fully serviced and a mechanic having a proper look over it.

Many thanks for the advice. I'll advise him to change the oil and filter as an absolute minimum, and the get the other points checked.
