Transit Tourneo - scootch
I hope you guys can give me some advice. I have a '53 plate tranny tourneo mini bus 2.0 tdci, its a taxi, it has 165k miles on the clock. 11 months since I had a replacement dmf flywheel and clutch fitted, without checking the invoice i think it had 125k on the clock then. Since then, every now and again the engine cuts out when you ask it for power changing from 2nd to 3rd gear, such as accelerating away up hill both empty and loaded to the gunnels. The heater plug glow light flashes on the dash. I turn the ignition off and then re start it after about 5 seconds and all is fine, till it happens again. It happens very infrequently perhaps 2 or 3 times a month. Could it be the clutch wasn't fitted correctly in the first place. I took it back to the garage, ford specialists, within a month, they road tested it but of course it did not do it. To my shame i have just carried on with it as i need the vehicle to earn a living and i have had so much go wrong with it from new i cannot really afford any major repairs again. I am afraid to take it in now as i fear i will be told it is something else, I have paid out over £5k in the last year with it. Now, considering that the clutch is 11 months old and has done 40k ish would i still be eligable for a free replacement, it was a ford replacement part. Anyone any ideas??

How does that tie in with the cutting out and ,anyway,as you use it for business purpose, you are unlikely to be covered?

I have to agree that if you read the small print on most parts it usually excludes use as a taxi or private hire so i don't think you've got much chance really mate.

I can't see that it is a clutch problem anyway. I would think that it is most likely to be a fuelling/electrical fault.

It?s the throttle position sensor, nothing to do with clutch, hope this helps.

Clutch has 2 year unlimited milage warranty. DMF has 1 year unlimted warranty. Not the cause of your concern. Glow plug light flashing is engine control module registering a fault with the injection system. If it cannot control the fueling it will cut the fuel to engine (hence the stalling) to save damage to the engine. Key off / on vehicle will OK until module sees the fault again.

Thanks for all your replies. I thought it was something to do with the clutch as it started happening when I changed gear from 2nd to 3rd. I have trawled the net for problems relating to ford transits. On a forum for tranny van owners I found a posting from a chap who was having a similar problem to mine, cutting out when asking for power etc, a reply on that forum told him to have his actuator valve checked out. Anyway thanks again guys.
