Pug306 steering wheel volume control - jgriffin

I have a 1999 Peugeot 306 which has the usual steering wheel volume control/search stick. The radio is the standard for the vehicle.
The control stick isn't functioning at all, does anyone know if it is a complicated piece of work to repair the fault or if it's expensive? Would it be best to take to a Peugeot dealer rather than independent? If anyone has any experiences with this type of fault I'd appreciate your feedback.

Have you checked the connection on the back of the radio?

The radio may have been removed for recoding and whoever may have forgotten to reconnect it.
