Mondeo thermostat change(Yreg 2.0 petrol - Ford Dagenham
Hello Fellow Backroomers.

Iam going to be changing the thermostat in my mondeo.

Is there any way to stop the water from going everywhere so i can put it back in the coolant bottle.

All help appreciated

Nor am I, though I used to be.

For those including me without the benefit of workshop facilities, on old plastic washing up bowl does the job, although the car usually needs a slight jacking up to get the clearance under it. Then use a funnel to get the coolant back into the expansion tank.

But.....do look at the service schedule to see when the coolant should be changed. If it's soonish you may as well save yourself the hassle and buy some new coolant (antifreeze). Check the cooling system capacity in the handbook and use a 50% antifreeze solution.

If the old coolant looks dirty, be sure to flush out the system with clean water at least twice. Come the summer you'll be glad that you did!

Hi Nav3927

Thankyou for that tip i will try that.

The coolant is looking a bit murky,Reminds me i must clean out the fish bowl :)

Do you recommend i use Ford Antifreeze.
