Stars In Fast Cars - Adam {P}
By sheer chance, I just caught this on BBC1.

Was sceptical at first but it was presented by Dougie someone or other who used to present a Breakfast Show on Channel 4 and I remember him being quite funny so I gave it a go.

Basically it was David Dickinson, Tommy Walsh, Jenny Frost and Nina Wadia (not what I'd call stars exactly) given tasks to do in cars surprisingly ranging from banger racing in Tranny vans trying to do the most damage to each other to firing cars the furthest distance.

From what I understand the tasks vary each week and whilst it may not be everyone's cup of tea, it was quite entertaining and a good watch if you've nothing to do.

Can't believe I'm saying this myself but it was a better watch than Top Gear.

Recommended.

Yeah, I keep missing that, but I really want to see it. Caught the tail end of last weeks: they were using cars as 'balls' in which to knock down huge big 'coconuts' (al la coconut shy). One of the aforementioned balls was an Escort, best thing you could have done with it :-p

..."a good watch if you've nothing to do."

I had nothing to do so I watched a bit of it. I soon found something to do... :-)

What can I say - I'm lazy and don't think too much!

I happened to catch the programme - it occurred to me that it must have been very cheap to produce. Quite entertaining - I'd enjoy watching a 50 lap 'Formula Transit' race, though it was a bit misleading that the stars didn't actually sit in the cars for the last stunt, (the one where the cars were catapulted 60 metres into a sandpit, possibly a breach of the trade descriptions act?)..

Well Adam, suprisingly you have earned yourself a place in English language,

That is the most concise and accurate definition of a Student I have ever heard.

Surely hiring expensive equipment to chuck old cars about is just childish carp. What's wrong with taking the glass out, welding in roll cages and just racing them on grass? More fun, better spectacle, more instructive for one and all.

I'm with adam i found it amusing and not a bad watch. as for students being lazy its just storing up energy for that next set of exams or road trip to where ever.
