For research purposes I am trying to identify which car models are assembled in the UK. Google has not been very helpful.

I am only interested in large scale production not specialist car manufacturers.
Made in the UK - nutty_nissan

I was being silly. Sorry. So other than Jaguar and LandRover, are no Fords made here?

On a similar note - if you had a family member who worked for Ford and got a discount voucher under the Privilege scheme, could you redeem that against a Jag or a Land Rover?

And Aston Martin and Volvo.

I think so as I have a friend of a friend who is in a freelander that he bought through the ford ticket scheme

They must lose out if that's the case? Or is the discount nothing to write home about?

Ford also own Aston Martin which are built here, don't forget Transits-Southhampton.Ford also build a large percentage of their gasoline engines here, all their diesel and some for French manufacturers, trim, seats, wheels, transmissions, batteries and a lot of other parts. And remember some so-called British manufacturers are only assembling parts from all around the world including parts from Australia,Japan and South America.

I was under the impression that the Ford Duratec petrol units were all shipped from the Far East? The Zetec-E was constructed in this country but I thought that Ford moved a large amount of engine production to the Far East as an economy measure.

Thanks for all the replies so far.

I am interested in large scale production models only. Jaguar falls within this definition but not Aston Martin, Bentley or TVR.

Are there any FORD Fords built in the UK, ie Fiesta, Focus?

Is the VX220 the only Vauxhall built here?

Made in the UK - Altea Ego
No Ford badged Fords built here, Vauxhalls built here are Astras, also exported as Opels. No other GM cars built here.

Not large scale production, but the UKs oldest motor manufacturer still in roughly the same ownership form and owned by decendants of the first ones.

Morgan.

Since 1909.

I had to get that one in :o)

Transits are certainly built in the UK.Ford own Volvo. For greater detail read the sixth post down.Ford don't use the Mazda V6 that was in the Probe anymore. The Ford V6 is a totally different engine.A few Escorts were sold into Sweden and some European countries fitted with a South American built Renault motor.

But according to Ford's own website the Transit is built in Turkey at the Otosan Plant`and also at the Genk plant in Belgium, I couldn't find any mention of the Transit been built in the UK anymore, I was always under the impression that only engines and parts were now made in the UK.

Don't forget MINI at Oxford (BMW plant), and Rolls-Royce at Goodwood...RR probably does't count as volume though!!

I'd be very interested to see a list of all the major volume cars and where they are assembled, and also relations to other cars, especially whether the exact same car is available under a different name

Nobody has mentioned Manganese Bronze, makers of the LTI TX1 (the black cab). Does that count as a 'car' ?

What about those Reliant three wheel things? Are they still made?

Not quite, but it was said on this morning's Today programme that they may fall into the hands of an American venture capitalist.

Quoting my post from yesterday:

"LDV Vans (the last British-owned mass producer of vehicles - unless it's owned by foreigners now!)"

...I didn't know anything, honest truth! Uncanny timing though. Now we have no home-owned mass market vehicle manufacturers.
