me mate has a 1.4 ecto astra v reg it ticks over ok but when you drive it it runs badly cuts out its ok till about 3.5 revs any ideas.got the memory cleaned today still the same just found out the cat has been breaking up do you think this will have anything to do with it

The cat breaking up will restrict the engine from pushing out exhaust gasses. Imagine someone grasping you by the throat and trying to strangle you. You would have difficulty breathing. Your exhaust is having the same trouble breathing.
