Honda have released further details of their new Civic, which is due for UK launch in early 2006.
It seems the car is relatively unchanged from the pre-launch model shown last Autumn at the Frankfurt Motor Show. If it drives as well as it looks, it is going to be quite a car.!!!

Looks interesting, something different. Some people have been saying the layout of the controls isn't that good, where you would expect the cd eject button to be there are hazard warning lights.
Have to wait for the road tests, of course.

We're on their mailing list, presumably as SWMBO has a Civic. It looks good except that I hope the view out of the back is better than implied by the 360-degree pan that they showed: it looked like a black void with a letter-box slit for a rear window.

A valid point, I must confess the same thought passed my mind, I personally would rather see the car without that rear spoiler altogether.

I have seen and sat in one of the new Civic's ( although it was a pre-production) and it does look very nice. I didn't look out the back to see what the veiw was like, as there were way too many buttons to fiddle with in the very short time available.
The car had steel wheels and plain plastic, but the final production one should look great.

Definitely put this on my list when my current car is due for replacement. The styling is excellent and the 1.8i VTEC engine sounds very good (2 litre performance with 1.5 litre economy..)

A very good looking car - reminds me a bit of a FTO from certain angles.
The rear screen seems to be harking back to Honda's CRX of the early '90s with it's 2 piece glass section.

This car looks fantastic. The Type-R version may earn a place on my list of potential Impreza replacements. The Diesel should be fantastic, too.
This car is such a radical step for Honda that I wonder why they have kepth the 'Civic' name.
When Ford replaced the awful Escort with the excellent Focus, the new name clearly told everyone that the era of rubbish mainstream Fords was over. A new era had begun.
Shouldn't Honda now do the same?

It looks good but it's one we'll have to see in the metal. Picking up on the point about the rear screen, I was behind a new Alfa coupe tonight and while it has a largish are of glass at the rear, the actual window is quite a narrow slit in the glass, so we all have an excuse to go and sit in one. The Honda that is. Or the Alfa, but not before somone tells me the electrics work.
