Citroen ax choke - cabsmanuk
My 9 year old citroen 1.1i ax is behaving as if the choke is out all the time. I haven't made any exact measurements but I suspect the petrol consumption is a bit heavy for an 1100. How does an injection system choke work?

Fuel injection systems don't have a choke. It could therefore be some sort of cold start/running valve which isn't working as it should or a sensor which is bust. Either way you need to have a garage see what fault codes are developing.

How do you know it's running on 'choke' all the time? Aside from the excess fuel consumption. What fuel consumption figures are you gettings?

Probably the coolant temperature sensor is kaput - I'd just change it, they will only be a few quid. There might be two, one for the gauge / warning light, the other for the ECU. You might need Haynes to work out which one is which.

Is it illogical? It must be Citroen....
