calibra steering squeel noise - allan doc
I'm thinking of buying a vauxhall calibra j plate. I was test driving it and the when i put the streering on full lock and move a squeeling noise happens. anyone any ideas? also the abs light stays on as well. the car has been lying for 3 months. could this be the prob?

Probably the belt slipping on the p/s pump. I've previously been told it's not a good idea to put cars with p/s on full lock for too long as it puts extra pressure on the pump.
also the abs light stays on as well. the car has been lying for 3 months.


Could be something as simple as dirt accumulation build up around the sensors on the wheels, or something more serious that is gonna cost ££££'s to fix. Depending on the age, I beleive on later models you could plug in a fault reader to get the fault codes.

The noise on full lock may be just fluid being bypassed back to the reservoir through the valves.
