Rover 200 car alarm - redboy1976
I have a 1999 Rover 200 (214) and the car alarm is driving me batty. It keeps going off after I lock with the fob, it is that bad that I'm thinking of taking the alarm out.
Have had it into Rover garage, who have allegedly fixed it citing some wiring as being the cause which they claimed to have fixed and charge me £75, but its still going off.
Anyone any similar experiences?

If its a 1999 it will be a 414..anyway I dont think you can take the alarm out..its built. along with immobiliser into ecu..
Unless it has been modified.any corrections here appreciated..
Boot light staying on is or was a common problem..to check this out remove boot lamp bulb/s. alarm if boot switch failure will go off..Did rovers mention what they did..As I recall labour charge is around £85 an hour..Plus it is rare alarm causes any problem..when I said common meant on cars that had this problem..which was rare..Also look at possibilty new ecu may be needed..that is not uncommon

Rover 200 car alarm - DL
200 & 400 were made right up to 1999, so I think it is a 214!!

You've already paid £75? I'd go back and kick up a stink.

They can read the 5AS Alarm trigger store momory and see what's setting the alarm off....easy.
