Hyundai Accent Timing Belt - JamZ
Anyone know just how big a job it is to change the timing belt on a 1996 1.3L Hyundai Accent? Any idea of a fair price?

many thanks,

My daughter has a 1.5, same engine just bigger bore and/or stoke.

A local independent garage charged 2 hours @£30 ph + 29.37 for the belt kit.

Said it was a fairly easy job, no special problems.

One month later somebody ran into the back of the car and wrote it off.

So that was £100 down the drain.

Hyundai dealers will charge more, probably about £120 labour plus parts.

Nice little car.

Straightforward job. Book time is 1.3 hours (no aircon or PAS) or 1.5 hours (aircon and/or PAS fitted).
Any idependant should be able to do it.

many thanks for your replies - my sister has just bought one and wondered how much it'd cost to get done :-)
