golf steerin column lock

golf steerin column lock - h9jpk
hi does anyone no how i can remove this as some thieving scum have smashed th barrel off and rendere it useless i have taken the steeering wheel off and the instrument stalks i am now left with a stum with splines and a spring assembly please help

the splined collar which you describe is a very tight fit on the steering column.To remove it without damage you will need a special puller that locates around the shallow lip,& enables an even pull.Hammer & chisel is the last resort,but you will probably burr shaped surface.Once this part is removed,one bolt releases the steering lock assy & it will slide off.

thanks for your response and your advice i will try this but have you any ideas as to where i can get one of these pullers if not and ideas on what i can adapt ie hub puller etc...
