Broken key - Richard Hall
Here's a tricky one. Just had a phone call from the guy who bought my old Polo last month. He's broken off the key in the door lock, and doesn't have a spare (that's why he rang me, in the hope that I had one). Any suggestions? Do VW keep records of key patterns for ancient Polos? I suspect it has the original locks - one key fits all.

Richard,

Break in with a Sealey breaking in kit. Take off the door panel to get the lock out. Poke out the key end on the bench. Super Glue it to the remaining stump and take it to a modern locksmith with a computer key scanner.

This will tell him the key number and he can cut a couple.

What is this?

Where can I get one? (or rather, where could a wannabe car thief get one - not me).

Which cars do they work on?

Jonathon,

All I will say is see your local Sealey dealer. The kit is simple but comprehensive and does most things! I would guess your AA/RAC chap hasne in the van.

Fine point electrical pliars might pull the remains of the key out of the lock. It's worked for me.
