Can I drive through Spain on runflat tyres with no spare wheel?

I am travelling to Spain by car and I understand that it is obligatory to carry a spare wheel. I have runflat tyres and also carry a tyre inflator. Are these sufficient? My car does not have a housing for a spare wheel.

I've never heard of this ruling regarding runflats and nor, I guess, have the tens of thousands of Germans who drive to Spain every year on their runflats with no spare wheel. It's probably old law dating to pre-runflat days.
