Can anyone tell me what size the sump plug is on a 97 Vectra 2.0l diesel,that is,assuming it's an allen key?

Do you mean the allen key or thread rake/diameter?
I can probably find out the latter tonight, but a bit of a hassle so don't want to if not the info. you require!

If you're refering to the size of spanner / allen key required to undo the sump plug, I think you'll actually need a torx bit to undo it with.

Yep, a quick forum search confirms it. You'll need a size T45.

What, the sump plug or the torx bit?

Buy a new sump plug.
These often require a chisel to remove them.
A decent set of Torx drivers (Teng Tools) cost me £22 the other day.
