Audi A3 Sportback - Audi A3 diesel Fan control unit - johnbos

My 2 liter diesel Audi had Manifold flaps replaced a couple of months ago, however there is a fault on the Fan control circuit, in that thye fan won't turn on.

The car's brain apparently switches the fan on, but the fan doesn't operate..

Fan has been changed but still won't work

Any ideas ?

Sounds like a relay or wiring problem. Take it to an independent auto electrician.

Any basic tests carried out?like fuses?

All fuses and relays are working and the ECU is shown on diagnostics as turning fan on, but it won't !!

Problem arose at same time as Manifold flaps broke, which have been replaced...

Stuck now !!

Really can't see any relation between manifold flaps and cooling fan.Does the fan work if the a/con is switched on?There are lots of unused locations in the engine bay fusebox,are you sure the correct fuses are in the correct locations?

The fans do not switch on at all, whether Aircon is switched on or not, the fans won't trigger on at all.

Car is 2007 07 reg.... Not sure where I find the engine code though.

Should be in the front page of the handbook.On a white label in the boot/spare wheel well,or on the engine cambelt/chain end.Usually 3 letters.
