Mondeo - abs light on - Apollo23
Hi everyone,

I was hoping for a bit of advice.

I'm looking at a Mk3 Mondeo Zetec 1.8 tomorrow as I'm looking for something to keep me going for a few months.

The car description sounds ok bar one thing - ABS light is on. Having read around mondeos I realise that its most likely to be wheel sensors which are cheap to replace. But there's also a chance I suppose that the worst case scenario is the ABS system needing replaced at v high cost.

Given the probabilities, is it worth the risk of buying the car?

Or are there any simple tests I can do while examining and driving it tomorrow?

Cheers
Graeme

Firstly,an abs light on is an Mot failure. There are no real simple checks that can be done yourself. A diagnostic test is really the only way forward to establish in what area the fault is located. On the plus side, these Mondeos are very robust and there is an abundance of s/h spares. If the car is otherwise in good condition and the price is sensible, then it is probably worth a punt.
