Vauxhall Corsa D - Seatbelt Alarm - festaman

My seatbelt alarm goes off intermittently (with seatbelt on). Can I just disconnect the two wire connector at the seatbelt latch ?

Wouldn't that just make the alarm go off all the time? Tray spraying with wd40 to make better connection?
