Nice ? - Car salesman - oldroverboy.

Having bought my last 3 cars from main dealers a few comments.

Car salesman each time told "NO EXTRAS" but we have to inform you.

Finance offered .. got to pay cash can't get credit.... ooops naughty me not taking finance.....

These 4 "options" would have added £1400 to the price of a £7995 car...

paint protection no thanks

alloy wheel protection no thanks

gap insurance no thanks

minor accident protection no thanks

Still he was polite and did not push.

Paid, got in car and drove away. even had half a tank in it...

You mean you weren't offered MOT or Tyre insurance??

Blimey, that salesman was slacking.

Being at the low budget end of car buying does have its benefits, you don't have to sit through endless silly dealer robot routines, they're not unlike the Yes/No interlude on Beat the Clock...older forum members might just remember it.

I thought things had moved on. Bought a car from Motorpoint late last year, paid cash and I don't think I was offered any silly extras.

Went with daughter to a Toyota main dealer last week, where she bought a car. Salesman again didn't try to flog extras.

Perhaps it's my demeanour?

Sounds like when I bought my last car - pretty much said 'do you want this'? We said no and it was quick and painless.

Maybe helped being a cold Thursday afternoon and he knoew that we knew exactly what we wanted.
