Any - Brake bleed screw seizure - BrianBarker

Does anyone have any advice on how to prevent the brake bleed screw on brake calipers from seizing ? Would the use of PTFE tape (plumbers tape) on the threads help or coating the threads with red brake grease?

Any tips would be helpful.

Many Thanks

A bit of Denso tape wrapped around the nipple. Can pick this up from plumbers merchants, some people call it corrosion tape.

If they do seize the cheapest and easiet way out is to bleed them by loosening the hydraulic pipe - assuming that hasn't seized as well!

Make sure that the rubber or plastic cover is still in place and coat the exposed threads with Waxoyl.

Has worked for me for many years. Nipple must be free before you do it.

A touch of grease on the threads and don't tighten it down too hard.

Copper anti seize paste which is available to buy just about everywhere. Just apply some on the threads and you'll never have a problem. It's also essential to use it on stainless steel threads. It will prevent the threads from 'picking up', which would otherwise result in them being damaged and unusable.
