Vauxhall Astra 1.6 petrol - Fuel not registering - Glasgow26

Friend of mine has the above car. He has just told me that he has filled it up completely with fuel but that this is not registering on the fuel gauge/dashboard computer. There are no warning lights on the dashboard. What could be causing this? Another friend has told him to disconnect the battery, wait and while, then connect it up again. What should he do? I said he may have to take it to a Vauxhall dealer for diagnostics.

probably the sender unit in the fuel tank, access is usually under the rear seat cushion to remove the sender unit. when you remove the sender unit ignition off and disconnect the battery. check also the vauxhall astra forums. haynes manual which will show how to do the job on e-bay, just make sure you get the right year.

I would agree but try disconnecting the battery first, I had a similar problem with a C5 and it cured it.
