Vauxhall Van - Defective paintwork onnew vehicle - Billsboy

My Brother in Law is self employed and needs a van for his work. His Renault Kangoo recently went beyond economic repair and he purchased a new Vauxhall from a Main Dealer.

After two weeks, he noticed that there are many rust spots on the roof and a few elsewhere and it looks as though there were iron filings on the bodywork which have been sprayed over.

I recall reading on this site, reports of defects on new vehicles and advice on how to handle them. Can someone please point where I can find these as I have been unable to track them down.

His dealer has said he will refer it to the manufacturer but I have advised him that his contract is with the dealer and they should rectify it. Two week was mentioned as the time to make good but this will mean him being out of work for that period. I wondered whether in view of the small time scale, he would be entitled to a replacement van.

Any pointer towards the original debate would be welcome..
