Rover 75 Con CDT 2 lt BMW - How to reset oil change reminder - Rev-Phillip

Hi, can anyone tell me how to reset the oil change reminder,that flashes up each time I switch the ignition on, Oil and filter changed last week, about 300 miles early, regards Rev Phillip

There is a manual procedure for oil/service re-set ,but it may not work if the time/miles is excessively overdue.With ignition on,take a wire from pin 8 of the diagnostic socket to an earth point on the car,hold for approx 1 - 4 secs for oil .Repeat for time /inspection and hold for approx 10 - 25 secs.If this does not work,the system will need to be reset via diagnostic.If you know anybody with diagnostic facility for a BMW 5 series (e39 model)this will also complete the reset.hth
