What is this brake part in photos:

I was checking my front brake pads and this small part was pushed into space at back of the brake pad.

Like a small strip of spring steel ~ 1cm x 1cm.

Seems dodgy / dangerous having a small part just pushed into brake caliper/pad, just sitting there, as it could pop out.

I tried pushing it back in, but it does not seem to sit properly.

My new set of replacement front brake pads don't have this part.

This clip holds the brake pad wear sensor in place. it is not needed if your car does not have them fitted.hth
