The dealer knew about a fault with my car and didn't tell me - is that legal?

I just purchased a used Honda CR-V from a Honda dealer. After picking it up, I felt it had stiff steering and was concerned about safety. I have since found out that this is a characteristic of CR-V However, the MoT certificate was not included in my pack upon purchase and I am now informed by the dealer that it has a steering joint advisory on the last MoT. As they never gave me the MoT certificate, I wouldn't have known this and they never told me about it at the time I agreed to the purchase. I would have thought this should have been rectified by the dealer before selling the car to me, but they are saying they wouldn't repair anything on an advisory and won't rectify this for me. Is this right?

Basically they have concealed information about a fault with the car that they knew of and this could lead to civil and criminal prosecution under the 2008 CPRs. So appraise them of this and demand that they fix it. You will find information about the CPRs several pages down this FAQ: www.honestjohn.co.uk/faq/consumer-rights/
